“Experience books” provide details (using pictures, text, and other tactile artifacts) about real events in a child's life so that they can be recounted at a later time. These personalized books are great tools to facilitate language about relevant topics, and help to organize memories in ways that can allow visual context for shared joy and meaningful conversations. They are helpful for children who have difficulty recalling information, organizing thoughts in a cohesive manner for storytelling, and can even be a regulation tool for talking about upcoming/anticipated experiences that might be new/overwhelming.
“Experience books” can be made about a single event (such as a birthday party, vacation, etc), or a semi-regular routine (such as swim class, haircut, playdate, etc). No occurrence is too small or insignificant to be documented in a child's experience book.
If you are purchasing an experience book as an “add on” to your sensory haircut at Ronnie’s, please select this option during checkout. Turning Pages SLP will join your pre-appt walkthrough (scheduled with Ronnie), and your language experience book will be created during the appt- ready for you to take home after the walkthrough is finished.
If you have another reason for ordering the experience book, please select “other” during checkout, and share little bit about your idea. Your order will begin a collaborative process using caregiver input and SLP expertise. You can expect an email to schedule a 30 minute virtual consultation. The design timeline is typically 4-6 days post consultation. It will be delivered digitally as well as a laminated physical copy.
